Kada je Beyonce objavila album Lemonade, podigla se prava prašina zbog stihova pesme Sorry u kojoj optužuje supruga Jay Z-ja za prevaru. Par nikada nije javno ulazio u detalje ove afere, pa je nastalo pravo iznenađenje kada je popularni reper objavio i svoju verziju priče.
Danas je izašao dugo očekivani album Jay Z-ja 4:44. Album je pun kontraverznih pesama i stihova, ali ni jedna pesma nije privukla pažnju publike kao 4:44.
“4:44 je pesma koju sam napisao i koja je krucijalna za album. Probudio sam se bukvalno u 4:44 ujutru i napisao ovu pesmu. Posle je postala i naslov albuma. To je glavna pesma jer je toliko snažna i smatram da je najbolja pesma koju sam ikada napisao“, otkriva Jay Z.
U ovoj pesmi je dirljivim stihovima priznao da je prevario svoju suprugu Beyonce.
